BALTI GURLS is a women of color artist collective based in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 2014 by artist and city native Jenné Afiya as an informal discussion group amongst friends has evolved into a 10 member collective. We are DJs, filmmakers, painters, photographers, graphic designers, and performance artists. And with a particular focus on new media and cross-disciplinary practice, our mission is to cultivate platforms and “creative safe space” for other women of color. To establish a community of like-minded folks, physically and online. Our work has been featured in a number of publications including Dazed Digital, i-D, and Bmore Art. Among our many events we are the producers of EDGE CONTROL, a seasonal music show party focused on showcasing black and brown female-identified performers in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Members include Jenné Afiya, Suldano Abdiruhman, Khadija Nia Adell, Ashley N. Chambers, N'Deye Diakhate, Jessica Hyman, Joy Postell, and Stephanie Alexandra Wallace

We are currently based at the EMP Collective in Baltimore’s Bromo Arts District.
